  • Condition: This preamp is in pretty good shape. It does have some scratches on the upper left of the front panel. Also a little chip out of the front panel. The side panel have some blems in them also. Make sure you view all pictures.

    Description

    For sale is a used Sony TAE-5450 stereo preamplifier. This unit represents a time in audio history where manufacturers built for quality not the bottom line. All hand built inside. Bundles of wire hand-tied together.
    Work: I recapped the power supply with high quality Panasonic FM series caps. I replaced the power switch light. I cleaned out the interior. Removed the front panel and hand cleaned it and all the knobs. Cleaned all the RCA jacks and treated with Caig.
    Fully tested. That includes listening to the phono section, not just checking the power light is on. All inputs work. The filter and tone switches make a little click when activated.
    It sounds really great.
