Thanks for looking! If you're an admirer of vintage Marantz, Pioneer, Sansui, and other classic receivers, you may want to consider this RARE Pilot 254 receiver. I had not really heard of Pilot before. It is made in Japan. This bulldog offers lots of power (65 watts per channel of 1970's punch), a plethora of controls to adjust the sound to your liking, and that warm tone that brings classic rock to life. It is fully loaded and accepts 3 pair speakers, 2 turntables, and many line inputs. Here are the specs: Rated power (65WPC) was reached with 0.1% to 0.15% Distortion. At the rated 0.4% distortion output was 78WPC. Clipping occurred at 82WPC (1,000Hz) It's heavy, 42 pounds. 18.5"w x 17.5"d x 7"h AM/FM dial lamps are active only when AM/FM tuner is the selected source. Looks like a 3 gang FM tuner. When an FM stereo station is tuned in a red "MTPLX" indicator illuminates. There is an FM center tuning meter, and the dial pointer light changes from white to red when a station is tuned in correctly. There are 2 phono inputs with a 'Hi' and 'Lo' switch for each. The 'Hi' setting sounds like a loudness switch was engaged. The cartridge I was using has output of 6.1mV. The magazine review suggests that for most cartridges the 'Lo' setting should be used. There are 2 sets of AUX inputs, and In/Out for 2 tape decks. Tape 1 also has In/Out 3-connector phone jacks on the front panel. A Mic input with attenuator is on the front panel along with a headphone jack. There are connections for 3 sets of speakers, each can be selected individually or in pairs: A+B, A+C, or B+C. At 48 years old you will not see many of these out in the wild. I am not an expert with stereo receivers but I can tell you I did power the unit on. I tested all 3 banks of speaker outputs and it pulled in AM / FM channels and it sounded good. A little distortion when turning the volume but not bad. Not sure if the dials are aluminum or steel but they are definitely not cheap plastic. I am sure this unit could use some additional cleaning but overall it looks very good. It appears the lamps are working. Check out the 10 pics and if you can use it please bid!I would prefer local pickup because this thing is Big and Heavy but consider shipping will be 0.00.
Due to age this unit is sold as working but as-is with no expressed warranty or return policy so please only bid if you agree to these terms.
