Native American Made NAVAJO Half Trailer War Bonnet 48" LONG
This Native American Made Half Trailer resembles actual ceremonial trailers worn by Native Americans during the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
This half length trailer was created from natural turkey feathers sewn onto a felt feather fluff-covered skull cap with a single honor feather in the center of the back. The brow band and matching beaded rosettes are beaded by hand. This is a striking piece.
Warbonnets are no doubt one of the most popular Native American icons from American Indian history. Used by various Plains Indian Tribes, the most notable being the Sioux, Crow, Blackfeet and Cheyenne. Native warbonnets often appear in historic photography as being reserved for formal occasions. The halo style warbonnet has feathers that fan out around the head of the wearer creating the halo shape.
