This listing is for a
Marantz Tube System Consisting of 2 Audio Consolette Pre-Amplifier Control Units also later known as the Marantz Model 1. 2 Power Supply Units for the Audio Consolette Preamplifiers which were also later known as the Model 4 Power Supply.  2 Model 2 Amplifiers which were originally called the Marantz Basic Power Amplifiers. Last part of the system is a Marantz Model 10B FM Tuner
The Audio Consolette Pre-Amplifiers are in good working condition
and were gone through by a highly qualified Technician and sounds wonderful. These are the very early versions of the Audio Consolette ad have the brown bakelite knobs. Also as you can see from the pictures one has the original cabinet which consists of 2 wood side and a gold perforated top. The unit with the cabinet is basically in mint condition.
The Power Supplies are performing as they should.
The Model 2 Amplifiers are also in good working condition
and were also gone through by the same highly qualified Technician and also sounds wonderful.
The only problem that the technician found with the amplifiers is that he could not remedy is the bias meters, they are not working and would need to be re-built. If you are looking at this listing you may already know some of the history of the design quality and sound reproduction of the amplifier. The Marantz Basic Amplifier (
which became known as the model 2) was one of the first things that was designed by Mr. Sid Smith after leaving Radio Craftsmen of Chicago, Illinois and moving to the East coast and becoming the chief engineer for Saul Marantz at the Marantz Company of Long Island City, New York. This was really the first piece of equipment that he designed for the Marantz Company. And in many audiophile circles the Marantz Basic Amplifier is known as the model 2 is still considered as the sweetest and overall best sounding of the Marantz amps of which were the model 2's, 5's 8's, 8B's and the model 9's.
The Amplifiers have some cosmetic issues as you there is some minor rust and they have been partially re-painted. The Amplifiers came from an estate of an audiophile.
The last piece in the System is the Model 10B FM Tuner. The tuner is ins very nice cosmetic condition and is working condition although it has 2 miniture potetiometers that need to be changed which I am having a difficult time finding
Due to age the system being Sold AS IS and is therefore not refundable and not returnable.
