Background and history
From 1951 to 1954 EMT manufactured the EMT 133 (EMT V83) mono tube MC phono equalizer amplifier for use with the EMT 927 professional studio turntable, the EMT 133 was and is a very big unit and always placed beside the EMT 927 turntable, simultaneously with the introduction of the smaller EMT 930 turntable in 1955 the EMT 133 was discontinued and replaced by the smaller EMT 139 which could be placed inside the EMT 927 and EMT 930. The EMT 139 was and is a professional state-of-the-art mono tube MC phono tube equalizer amplifier with top quality in - and output transformers to amplify low level signals of dynamic (MC) cartridges to studio balanced line level (+6dB). The EMT 139 was provided with the de-emphasis characteristics for NARTB, IEC, BBC and DIN and was in production at EMT until 1959 after it was succeeded by the EMT 139A.
EMT 139 # 3086 & 3094 from 1956
The EMT 139 # 3086 & 3094 were original manufactured and sold to the SR (Swedish Radio) in 1956 as standard EMT 139 mono tube MC phono equalizer amplifiers and probably around 1960 modified for use with MM cartridges with exchange of the input MC step-up transformer by a tube (EF804S) input pre-pre amplifier circuit with a 47K input, removing of all standard equalizer characteristic circuits and replaced by only the RIAA - and FLAT characteristic circuits. Recently both units had a complete refurbish incl. a full recap (exchange/renew of all capacitors) in my workshop after which they were tested and adjusted in accordance with the original EMT regulations and instructions. The EMT 139 # 3086 & 3094 are in perfect working condition, a great matched pair to compose a state-of-the-art stereo tube phono equalizer (RIAA) amplifier for use with MM - and MC (with external SUT's) cartridges.
