Restored ST-70 with Mullard EL34 valves
This is an exceptional ST-70. The chassis was stripped and re-plated. All resistors have been replaced with modern film parts. New
polypropylene
capacitors are in the audio path and new CDE Aluminum electrolytics for DC filtering. An additional 400+ MFD of filtering was added.
The EL34 bias circuit has been updated and is now
Zener
stabilized with individual bias settings for each output tube so unmatched tubes can be used.
The Mullard tubes have a date code of 8903. I believe the restoration work was completed around 1992 and then shortly after this ST-70 was boxed up when the owner moved. I've checked it out, and let it run for a day and it sounds great.
The ST-70 is very heavy and expensive to ship. It will be double boxed and the tubes removed prior to shipment and reinstalled with the map provided. An original manual & foldout pictorial is included, in good condition with no marks or writing that I could find.
