You are bidding on a very rare original antique engraving from an 1860s French illustrated journal.
It depicts three beautiful Border terrier dogs who have caught a rabbit, and are taunting a falcon or hawk that wants to challenge them for it.
The caption roughly translates to:  THe Terriers and the Falcon
Above and below the picture is a long article on terriers. Unfortnately it is cut off, but not before describing the Russian Terrier, The Scottish Terrier and the Skye Terrier. It is in French, but free computer translation programs make it easy to translate.
The page measures approximately 10.4 x 7.5 inches (26.5 x 19 cm). The picture itself fills about half the page, and measures about 8.6 x 5.5 inches, with a French caption below. It is surrounded by unrelated text. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
